Apple has introduced the 4th-generation Apple TV 4K, a reworked streaming box built around Siri AI, the overhauled assistant powered by the next wave of Apple Intelligence. Beyond the software leap, the new unit adds three far-field microphones for voice control without the remote, a significantly faster A19 chip and support for a four-speaker HomePod surround setup that calibrates itself to the room.
Siri AI lives on Apple TV 4K as a full-screen interface rather than a small pop-up, letting viewers search by mood, award wins or genre and browse results as poster art pulled straight from the Apple TV app. Mid-episode questions about filming locations or age suitability surface in a discreet overlay that keeps the show running, and owners with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone can lean on personal context for requests like queuing up a series a friend suggested. Siri AI launches as a beta in tvOS 27.2, works on Apple TV 4K units from the 2nd generation onward, and is initially limited to English in the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK.
Hands-free operation comes courtesy of a trio of far-field microphones paired with echo cancellation that separates a speaker’s voice from whatever is playing, so “Siri” commands register even at full volume. Mic data runs through Secure Exclaves on the A19, isolated runtimes walled off from tvOS, apps and Apple itself, while Siri requests are handled either on-device or through Private Cloud Compute, where nothing is stored or exposed. Far-field voice support currently covers nine primary languages, including English, Mandarin Chinese, French and German.
Under the hood, the A19 chip posts gains of as much as 50 percent in CPU speed and up to double the GPU output of the outgoing model, translating into snappier menus and smoother animation. A new dedicated AV1 decoder also lets the box stream high-quality video more efficiently on less bandwidth. The Siri Remote keeps its existing silhouette but gains Find My support with Precision Finding, plus a play-sound option exclusive to the newest version, and it is compatible with Apple TV HD and every Apple TV 4K.
Audio gets an equally significant bump, as Apple TV 4K can now drive a four-speaker surround configuration using HomePod mini 2 units for the first time, with HomePod (2nd generation) also supported as long as the front and rear pairs match. The speakers detect where they sit in the room and automatically tune timing and levels to the space, removing the manual setup that typically comes with multi-speaker home theater.
The streamer lands on the same day as three companion launches, HomeView, HomePod mini 2 and the Apple Home Collection of smart home accessories, positioning it as the hub of a coordinated living-room push. As a home controller, it surfaces doorbell alerts on screen so users can see and speak with visitors or unlock the door mid-show, adds Apple Intelligence-written descriptions and summaries for HomeKit Secure Video clips, and connects devices over built-in Wi-Fi and Thread. “With Siri AI, finding something to watch becomes a full-screen, conversational experience… Now, alongside HomeView, HomePod mini 2, and Apple Home Collection, it’s part of the most connected Apple Home we’ve ever built,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, in a press release.
Apple’s material story runs deep into the internals, with fully recycled gold plating and tin solder across all Apple-designed circuit boards and 100 percent recycled rare earth elements in every magnet. The thermal module uses 80 percent recycled aluminum, the Siri Remote’s enclosure is made entirely from recycled aluminum, and the packaging is 100 percent fiber-based.
Pre-orders for the Apple TV 4K (4th generation) are open now via Apple and the Apple Store app across the US and 29 other countries and regions, with in-store availability beginning Friday, November 13. The new Siri Remote is also sold separately.
