HBO has officially slated Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest for a theatrical release on June 6, 2029. The project marks the franchise’s first feature film set within the fictional universe of Westeros.
Directed by Owen Harris (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms) from a screenplay written by Beau Willimon (Andor, House of Cards), the film focuses on Aegon I, the founder of the Targaryen dynasty. The story chronicles his military conquest across Westeros centuries prior to the events of the original Game of Thrones series. Casting for the lead role of Aegon I has not yet been announced.
The cinematic expansion arrives alongside HBO’s growing television slate in the Westeros universe. In addition to the feature film, House of the Dragon is moving forward with a fourth season, while A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has been renewed for Season 2.
Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest premieres in theaters on June 6, 2029.
