Rickie Fowler Has Quietly Become Golf’s Collaboration Guy
Wearing the brands that the internet actually cares about.
Early-2010s Rickie Fowler style was loud and instantly recognizable: flat brims, Sunday orange, oversized belt buckles and polyester head-to-toe. Performance-first apparel trying to feel youthful and disruptive? It fit that era of golf perfectly. 15 years later, what’s interesting is how his taste has expanded.
As golf fashion has shifted toward collaborations, niche labels and cultural references, Rickie evolved with it. And unlike some Tour players who look like they’ve simply been styled into a collaboration for one week, he tends to make these projects feel believable. Whether it’s PUMA GOLF with Gumtree Golf & Nature Club or Reigning Champ, there’s usually a sense that he’d actually wear the clothing beyond an obligation that was set in the yearly scripting meeting.
That’s probably why PUMA keeps using him as the conduit for these projects. He gives the brand room to experiment without the result feeling overly corporate. And there’s something else underneath it too. Rickie’s always had a broader cultural identity beyond just “golfer.” He’s a Southern California kid at heart with motocross influence, tattoos, an Olympian spouse and a relaxed off-course persona. As he’s gotten older, his identity is far from stuck in the past, and his style is less about being the loudest guy on Tour and more about having range.
That’s rare in professional golf, where most player style tends to freeze in time around whatever image first made them marketable. These are a few of the moments that have shifted his perception.
From Southern California to South Carolina
After PUMA teamed up with Costa Mesa-based label Quiet Golf in early April 2024, Rickie wore the understated collection at the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. He paired the paisley patterned polo with straight leg trousers.
Rickie embraces his inner athlete with Reigning Champ
Rickie was featured prominently in the campaign visuals for Reigning Champ x PUMA Golf, and he went on to put the pieces in play at the 2025 Open Championship. Tracksuit one moment, conventional golf apparel the next.
Back for another bite of the apple with RC x PUMA
The second collaboration between PUMA and Vancouver-based Reigning Champ was dedicated to the weekend warriors and late night grind sessions, and Rickie wore the collection in his home state for the Genesis Invitational.
Welcome to the bird watching club
This collaboration saw PUMA embrace a more community-driven vibe in the form of Gumtree Golf & Nature Club. Rickie turned up in the hat and polo at the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow Country Club, a week before the PGA.
