- Gantri celebrated its 10th anniversary by opening The Shop, a 1,600-square-foot showroom and “creative hub” in San Francisco’s SoMa district.
- The Art Deco-inspired space showcases the brand’s sustainable, 3D-printed lighting and serves as a customization studio for the local design community.
To celebrate a decade in business, California-based lighting innovator Gantri has opened its first-ever showroom and store in San Francisco’s SoMa (South of Market). At 320 10th Street, “The Shop”, the space will act not only as a retail store but also as a customization studio and exhibition space.
Known for its modern, digitally-manufactured lamps, Ian Yang founded the lighting brand in 2016. Since then, the label has produced numerous original models and collaborated with designers on forward-thinking products. On the milestone, Yang said, “From the beginning, fostering and empowering a new generation of creators to launch their own designs to the world has been at the center of our mission.”
“Our first showroom is a manifestation of our brand and this vision – it’s a creative hub where SoMa’s tech and creative communities can come together to imagine and realize a brighter future for design.”
Now, customers and designers alike can take in Gantri’s lighting portfolio in person, including its wide-ranging color finishes and proprietary Plant Polymers, a sustainable alternative to traditional plastic. Designed in collaboration with Mzwakhe ‘Muzi’ Ndlovu of ZOMUZI, the space Gantri green-drenched immerses visitors in the brand’s world.
Across 1,600 sqft, the former Auto shop has been transformed into an Art Deco-inspired space, an homage to the building’s heritage. An installation made from 3D-printed Gantri Plant Polymer modules interacts with green and muslin drapery hung throughout the space. Above, an arrangement of square-shaped Gantri lamps accentuates the green ceiling, and below, installations illuminated by the glow of Gantri’s various models ground the space.
The Gantri Shop, located at 320 10th Street in San Francisco, is officially open to the public starting today, January 29.
