Update: Nike is celebrating the 2025 US Open with the Air Max Plus Golf “US Open,” a special edition inspired by Pittsburgh’s steel industry. The sneaker features a tonal upper comprised mainly of “Light Smoke Grey” and “Photon Dust,” topped with “Metallic Silver” overlays. A custom “Forged For Victory” anvil logo appears on the tongue and insoles, reinforcing the theme of strength and craftsmanship.
Adding an eye-catching contrast to the monochromatic design are “Bright Crimson” and “Safety Orange” gradient accents, which are implemented as midfoot plate accents and as outlines for the Swoosh logos. Designed for optimal traction and stability, the specialized outsole ensures a secure grip on varied course terrains, enhancing both style and functionality.
Original story (May 19): The PGA Championship may be finished but the U.S. Open is just around the corner, and Nike has accordingly prepared a limited edition colorway of the Air Max Plus G silhouette to honor the tournament’s return to Oakmont Country Club just outside of Pittsburgh. Dressed in metallic silver alongside hits of bright pink, yellow and orange, the sneaker references Pittsburgh’s historical dominance in steel manufacturing.
Aside from the various applications and textures of metallic silver, the Air Max Plus G “U.S. Open” represents the Steel City with a “Nike Forged” inscription on the heel counter and matching anvil logos with the phrase “Forged For Victory” on the tongues and insoles. The touches of yellow, on the other hand, likely nod to the beloved Steelers’ color palette. As with Nike’s PGA Championship pack, keep in mind that the Air Max Plus G will also be accompanied by the more golf-specific Victory Tour 4 and Infinity Tour 2 in a matching colorway.
At the time of writing no release date has been made available, but the drop will likely come in early June.
