Prada Group Officially Acquires Versace

Top Fashion News: April 11

Italian luxury parent Prada Group has officially acquired Versace from Capri Holdings following months of speculation. Agreed at a price of €1.25 billion, Versace will join Prada and Miu Miu as part of the group’s portfolio of flagship brands. On the acquisition, Prada Group said “The brand constitutes a strongly complementary addition to the Prada Group’s portfolio and displays significant untapped growth potential leveraging multiple value creation levers,” in an official release.”

The news comes weeks after former artistic director and Versace family member Donatella Versace stepped down from her position, and the house enlisted Dario Vitale, who held a 14-year tenure at Prada Group. While Versace was hit particularly hard, reporting a 15% drop in sales in the final quarter, Prada Group had a standout year showing 18% sales growth yoy across all of its brands.

Many were surprised when Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore released a report detailing a potential acquisition of Versace by Prada Group in January. Later in February, Prada Group initiated a full review of Versace and revealed that it was considering a bid for the brand. In March, Business of Fashion reported that Prada had agreed to a price of almost €1.5 billion EUR ($1.6 billion USD). With the deal now confirmed, how well Versace can integrate into the close-knit Prada brand family remains to be seen.

To celebrate the opening of the 18th Supreme store, the brand has unveiled a full-length skate film entitled HEADBANGER by William Strobeck. Supreme Miami is located at 45 NE 41st Street, Miami, FL 33137.

The Row *Very Quietly* Launches Its First Homeware Collection in Milan

Top Fashion News: April 11

On Monday, The Row made a surprise appearance at the 2025 edition of Milan Design Week to debut a soft goods collection at the Palazzo Belgioioso in the Quadrilatero della Moda district. Living up to their quiet reputation, the presentation was intimate and pared-back, showcasing a collection of solid throws and bedding handcrafted from fine wool. Offered in beige, tan, and deep black hues, the range of blankets is handwoven in India from the world’s finest cashmere. Elsewhere, a Quilted bedding set, also in cashmere, is meticulously hand-stitched with small squares. According to Vogue, the variety used in the collection is harvested from young goats, and weighs less than 14.5 microns. The only indication of the brand appears on a corner of the blankets, which boast miniature logos.

Notoriously quiet about its endeavors, the elusive brand takes its time with its projects, which has made its arrival at the highly attended, foremost design week in the world a rather surprising turn of strategy. However, the restrained assortment reflects the Olsens’ unconventional approach, avoiding ambitious marketing tactics and product saturation by distilling their work with the finest details.

Bode Handcrafts Full Replica of FW25 Collection in Miniature Form

Top Fashion News: April 11

In place of shooting a traditional lookbook, this week Bode unveiled an elaborate campaign showcasing replicas of its Fall 2025 designs worn by miniature dolls. Across a storyboard of almost 80 images, the collection fuses the American designer’s affinity for historic menswear styles with inspiration from American composer Morris “Moose” Charlap’s work.

Titled “The Expressionist,” the collection is named after Charlap’s final, unfinished musical in collaboration with lyricist Eddie Lawrence. According to Bode, the play follows the life story of a painter, set in post-Impressionist Paris, New York City, and outer Pennsylvania. The collection is dominated by handknitted fabrics and woolen materials adorned with striped patterns and regal trims. Elsewhere, evening looks evoke a night at the opera through dramatic collars, taselled details, and even performance regalia. In other looks shown inside a mini art studio, casual styles such as painted graphic tees, a patchwork field jacket, and a studded denim blouson are easily imaginable in contemporary life size.
