First reimagined as a genderless silhouette last year, Givenchy‘s Antigona bag has received a rework courtesy of creative director Matthew M. Williams. First seen in his debut collection for the house (and then the Fall 2021 range), the Antigona series retains the premium quality that Givenchy customers expect, but it now sports a bevy of updated touches.

So named for Greek mythological heroine Antigone, the Antigona line turned 10 in 2020; thus it seems appropriate that the house’s fiery new creative director remix the stalwart collection as part of the LVMH-owned maison’s big bet. Spring/Summer 2021 sees the Antigona updated with Williams’ penchant for statement hardware and roomier sizing appropriate for a versatile, genderless accessories selection.

Box-finished calfskin is utilized for a glossy finish, ensuring that the new iterations of Antigona bags feel as sleek as they look. Offered in the classic shoulder bag iteration alongside tote-sized Soft, crossbody U and sling Vertical variants, the series now boasts rich, weighty metal accents. These range from the lengthy G-link chain to 4G padlock to to zippers to sizeable magnetic closures, juxtaposing the smooth leather against an industrial aesthetic. Neutral tones of tan and black inform much of the range, offset by bold seasonal tones of pink and red.

Givenchy’s website and boutiques will stock the revamped line of bags from February 26 onwards.

LVMH continues making headlines having announced Naomi Osaka as the latest brand ambassador of TAG Heuer watches.
