Scheduled to be available in September 2026 without an exact release date announced yet, the updated roster scales all the way up to wall-powered hardware. By pushing the series to such massive physical and sonic proportions, Sony is signaling a clear intent to dominate the premium, high-volume event space rather than catering strictly to the casual living room setup.
The crown jewel of the new release is the ULT Tower Max, the largest of the new lineup and an absolute behemoth that commands a $1,499 USD price tag. Weighing in at a staggering 121 pounds, this colossal unit does not have a battery and must be plugged in for power. Under the hood, it is equipped with three 280mm woofers, two midrange speakers and four tweeters that collectively output 360-degree sound projecting from all sides. Because hauling a 121-pound speaker is no small task, Sony equipped the ULT Tower Max with new wheels featuring wider treads to make it easier to drag across various types of terrain.
For those who need premium sound on the move, the $649 USD ULT Tower 7 scales things down to 50 pounds while delivering 25 hours of battery life. It shares the 360-degree sound output of the Max, projecting from all sides via two midrange speakers, four tweeters and a single 280mm woofer. The smallest speaker in the lineup is the $449 ULT Tower 5, which weighs 29 pounds and gets 20 hours of battery life. Despite being the most compact option of the drop, it still features two midrange speakers, two tweeters and a 230mm woofer. To make transporting these weighty units easier, Sony redesigned the handles on the speakers to feature more comfortable grips.
Across all three models, Sony integrated features designed strictly for crowd control and atmosphere. All three speakers come with built-in lighting to set the visual tone. To shape the audio experience, the speakers feature multiple sound modes, including an option to emphasize bass and a “power” mode tuned for maximized loudness. Listeners can also switch to a flat mode that leaves the EQ alone, or engage a live mode intended to replicate the feel of live music. For maximum versatility, each speaker can connect via Bluetooth, XLR, RCA and USB-C.
