Marten Hørger’s Latest Track Brings a Sonic Exploration of the Everyday
Reimagining the sounds of trains, gyms and offices for “Feel your glo.”
Earlier this year, glo tasked three creatives to turn the monotonous routines of everyday life into a source of inspiration. The project, titled “Feel your glo,” set out to encourage the participants to find a positive response to typically mundane moments by transforming them into creative impulses.
As opposed to working singularly, the creatives – who include DJ Marten Hørger, illustrator Danii Pollehn and fashion designer Marcel Ostertag – have been handing over their creations in a form of creative relay. Kicking off the process, Hørger now releases a single which blends his own field recordings from office settings, train platforms and gyms with electronic beats to create a dynamic soundscape.
The “Daily Commute” single was one of three tracks that the DJ had initially produced at the start of the project. After giving glo’s community the chance to vote for their favorite track on Instagram, he went on to enhance the single with additional sound bites and instrument compositions.
“Developing a track from everyday sounds together with the community had an immediate creative appeal,” shared Hørger on the process. “My own life is highly centered around travel—small moments that provide inspiration happen everywhere. Making these perspectives from other people’s routines audible was the most exciting part of the process.”
Following the release of “Daily Commute,” Pollehn will now reinterpret the soundscape in a visual art piece, similarly tapping glo’s community on Instagram for insights on the various phases of its creation. Once revealed, this will then be handed over to Ostertag for the final piece in the project.
