New Balance is officially introducing a streamlined update to its footwear lineup with the brand-new 2000 Sleek silhouette. Arriving as a refined successor to last year’s chunky ABZORB 2000, the Boston-based brand is reshaping its modern runner for an upcoming release later this year. Building upon over three decades of signature cushioning heritage, this fresh iteration maintains the brand’s renowned comfort while offering a completely re-engineered visual approach.
The 2000 Sleek, also referred to as the 2000S, rests on the same full-length midsole that debuted in 2025, which mixes standard semi-transparent Abzorb gel with SBS variant pods. However, the upper has been entirely remodeled. Shifting away from its original chunky build, the new design features a traditional mesh base layer encased by a sleek, single-layer outer shell. This updated exterior sports a distinct dotted pattern with intentional gaps to expose the underlying mesh.
The silhouette originally caught attention during an early April preview on the runway of Brazilian label Quadro Creations. Now, official images have surfaced showcasing the updated model in versatile all-grey and all-black colorways. Notably, the all-grey iteration bears a striking resemblance to the exact pair that debuted during the Quadro runway show a few months ago.
The silhouette is slated to drop later this year.
