Saint Laurent Babylone is giving the stage to French-Australian artist Christopher Barraja in Daydreaming of Him, his latest solo exhibition. Curated by Anthony Vaccarello, the show gathers an atmospheric suite of photographs capturing queer scenes and cultural snapshots across the Mediterranean landscape in a poetic study on identity, memory, and desire.

Barraja’s rise in fashion photography is fueled by an ability to immortalize the heat of the moment. Based between Paris and Nice, he was technically trained at Paris’ École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. His graduate project, De Chlore et de Rosé, pulled him into the art spotlight, earning him the Picto Prize and a finalist spot at the 37th Hyères Festival in 2022.

Atmospheric and enchanting, his images not only depict his subjects, but his love for them. In Daydreaming of Him, Barraja brings forth a visual romance told through seaside scenes and queer subculture, channeling the soft and strange in equal measure. Using light as material, softening around the edges of bodies, plants, and buildings, his pieces allure by suggestion, by nostalgia, turning life’s most intimate moments into mythic works of art.

The exhibition is now on view in Paris until September 13.
