Video game publisher Square Enix has formally announced the Spring 2026 debut of its officially licensed Cafe & Shop locations in Los Angeles, California, and Shinjuku, Tokyo. This strategic rollout prioritizes permanent, full-service dining and retail environments, moving beyond the brand’s previous pop-up models to establish fixed cultural hubs in two of its most significant global markets.
The logistics of the North American debut center at a prime location at 316 E 1st St. in the Little Tokyo district of Los Angeles. Occupying the former footprint of Mitsuru Sushi & Grill, the space is engineered to provide a dual-purpose experience: a dedicated cafe serving a rotating menu inspired by major Square Enix intellectual properties and an adjoining shop space for premium goods. For the U.S. operation, Square Enix has partnered with third-party operator J-Pop Culture Cafe Inc. to manage daily service and retail logistics.
Simultaneously, the Shinjuku anchor represents a vertical expansion within the PASELABO TOWER located at 3-36-1 Shinjuku. Spanning the 1F, 2F, and 3F levels, the Tokyo flagship is operated by NEWTON CORPORATION. This multi-floor design allows for a broader integration of themed immersive decor and expanded inventory for official Square Enix merchandise. Both the Los Angeles and Shinjuku sites utilize a structural blueprint that pairs high-traffic dining with immediate retail access, ensuring that fans can engage with the brand’s IP through both consumption and physical collectibles.
The Square Enix Cafe & Shop locations in Los Angeles and Shinjuku are scheduled to open to the public in Spring 2026.
