Merrell and Khakis have officially joined forces to release the MOAB 3 “Old Faithful,” bringing a vintage-inspired touch to the rugged hiking silhouette. Founded in 2020 by the team behind thisisneverthat, South Korean lifestyle brand Khakis infuses its American casual aesthetic into the heritage outdoor footwear imprint, delivering a model that emphasizes the natural passage of time through meticulously aged detailing.

The design of the collaborative MOAB 3 focuses on the textures and physical aging of its composite materials. Constructed on the foundation of a traditional hiking shoe, the upper features a layered composition of nubuck, poly-mesh, and durable rubber. To achieve its signature “Old Faithful” appearance, the exterior undergoes specialized wax processing and stone-washing treatments, resulting in a weathered finish that authenticates the look of a deeply broken-in trail shoe.

Beneath the distressed exterior, the model retains its core trail-ready performance hardware. The footwear is equipped with an updated Super Rebound Compound midsole and a stabilizing Merrell air cushion tucked into the heel, all secured by a rugged Vibram outsole unit.
