Japanese label blurhmsROOTSTOCK and Joy Division have officially partnered to release the “Joy Division by blurhmsROOTSTOCK” apparel collection. Arriving as an homage to the legendary rock band that shaped the late ‘70s and early ‘80s, the collaborative capsule reconstructs the group’s iconic visual identity for natural, everyday wear.
The collection consists of graphic t-shirt variations constructed from 100% cotton, offered across five sizes in both standard and wide silhouettes. Design motifs draw heavily from the band’s revered catalog, including the classic 1979 debut album Unknown Pleasures and its instantly recognizable pulsar wave artwork, which appears in both standard square and inverted iterations. Additional pieces pay tribute to the 1980 track “Love Will Tear Us Apart,” the compilation album Total, and the haunting mausoleum imagery found on the band’s final studio album, Closer.
Prioritizing balance as a product, the imprint meticulously adjusted print sizes, placement, and blank space to create a natural look. All graphics are applied via silk-screen printing, with select designs employing vintage-accurate American rubber to replicate the manufacturing methods of the era. Furthermore, the garments are intentionally designed so that the prints and fabric will gradually blend and evolve through repeated wear and washing.
The “Joy Division by blurhmsROOTSTOCK” collection drops April 29,via END ON END. and select blurhms ROOTSTOCK stockists.
