Summary
- Ittala x Byredo’s LJUS Collection unites Finnish glassmaking with Byredo’s sensorial design, exploring light and scent as everyday rituals
- Debuting at MATTER and SHAPE Paris in March 2026, the full collection launches globally in October 2026 for the holiday season
Iittala has collaborated with Byredo to unveil LJUS, a limited-edition collection of handcrafted glass objects that unites Finnish glassmaking heritage with Byredo’s sensorial approach to fragrance and culture. Rooted in shared Nordic values, the collection explores light and scent as materials of everyday ritual, drawing inspiration from the shifting qualities of Nordic light —from the glow of the midnight sun to the intimacy of winter evenings.
The glass pieces are produced at Iittala’s historic Finnish factory, where artisans shape molten glass through breath and heat, resulting in subtle variations that highlight the material’s living nature. When paired with Byredo’s candles and incense, the objects become vessels for mood and presence, embodying the collaboration’s philosophy of “rituals of light and scent.” As Janni Vepsäläinen, Creative Director at Iittala, notes, “When Iittala’s glass meets Byredo’s fire, a new light emerges: elemental, restrained and deeply human.”
The LJUS collection will make its conceptual debut at MATTER and SHAPE in Paris this month, where it will be presented as a sculptural installation. The full collection will launch globally in October 2026, timed for the holiday season and will be available through Byredo, select Iittala stores, as well as official website.
