Warner Bros. Pictures has officially pulled back the curtain on Dune: Part Three, dropping the first teaser trailer for the final chapter in Denis Villeneuve’s sweeping sci-fi saga. Following an exclusive Q&A event in Los Angeles, the newly released footage sets the stage for a darker, more action-packed continuation of the franchise, bringing back Timothée Chalamet as Emperor Paul Atreides and Zendaya as Chani.
Steering away from the contemplative tone of the first film, the latest installment pushes the narrative 17 years into the future. This significant time jump allows the storyline to align with the events of Frank Herbert’s Dune Messiah and mature its ensemble cast, most notably placing Anya Taylor-Joy into the fully realized role of Paul’s sister, Alia Atreides. The trailer teases a tense, militaristic landscape where Paul grapples with the violent consequences of his absolute power and a rising resistance eager to overthrow his empire.
Alongside returning heavyweights like Florence Pugh as Paul’s wife Princess Irulan, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, and Javier Bardem a Stilgar, the visual preview delivers a coveted first look at Robert Pattinson. Stepping into the universe as Scytale, Pattinson introduces a complex, shape-shifting dynamic to the cast. Shot with a mix of 65mm film stock and IMAX digital cameras, the cinematography maintains the franchise’s signature brutalist aesthetic, showcasing ravaged battlefields, new tactical armor, and the escalating emotional war between Paul and Chani.
