Summary

  • Cecilie Bahnsen’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection, titled “Practice,” eschewed a traditional runway format in favor of an intimate, live dance rehearsal
  • The garments seamlessly merged delicate “ballerinacore” aesthetics emphasizing how clothing evolves and moves with the wearer’s body
  • The presentation also officially unveiled the fourth chapter of Cecilie Bahnsen’s highly coveted collaboration with The North Face

For her Fall/Winter 2026 presentation at Paris Fashion Week, Danish designer Cecilie Bahnsen fundamentally rethought the concept of the fashion show. Rather than delivering a static, finished moment of absolute perfection, Bahnsen invited her audience into the raw, beating heart of the creative process. Titled “Practice,” the deeply emotional collection proved that true mastery is not found in the final product, but in the relentless, dedicated rhythm of the work itself.

Setting the tone for the intimate showcase, the traditional runway was completely transformed into a working rehearsal space. As the audience arrived, the studio was already in motion. Through a poignant collaboration with choreographer Myrto Georgiadi and Oráma Atelier, dancers gracefully tested the garments, allowing the audience to witness the delicate balance of vulnerability and strength that defines Bahnsen’s overarching vision.

The clothing itself acted as a living, breathing participant in the performance. Rather than restricting the body, the FW26 silhouettes were distinctly shaped by movement. Ethereal, bias-cut silk satin dresses drifted effortlessly, while cozy knits were casually wrapped over the shoulders of the performers. Exploring a modernized “ballerinacore” aesthetic, soft pastel layers and diaphanous transparencies were cleverly grounded by fleece, perfectly marrying couture-level delicacy with everyday ease. Clean, precise lines skimmed the dancers’ bodies before opening dramatically at the hems, allowing for absolute freedom and lightness.

As the presentation progressed, the narrative shifted seamlessly from the rehearsal studio to the reality of the street. Here, technical performance pieces took center stage, heavily layered with Bahnsen’s signature soft, feminine details. A standout technical peplum tutu added a distinct bounce to the wearer’s step, while traditional anglaise embroidery was brilliantly reworked onto technical organza.

Anchoring this transition into functional, everyday outerwear was the highly anticipated fourth chapter of Bahnsen’s ongoing collaboration with The North Face. Masterfully balancing utilitarian practicality with poetic design, the capsule contrasted the collection’s lighter tones with deep midnight navy and black. Classic The North Face outerwear and upcycled archive bags were reimagined through a romantic lens, adorned with delicate floral embroideries and sophisticated hardware that softened their rugged, technical character.

By presenting everyday couture in perpetual motion, Cecilie Bahnsen delivered a profound reminder that clothes are meant to be worn, tested, and truly lived in. As the designer so eloquently put it: “Practice is not preparation for something greater. Practice is the work itself.”
