Bruno Mars Earns Second No. 1 Album With ‘The Romantic’

Bruno Mars is opening this week’s Billboard 200 at No. 1 with The Romantic, his first studio album in over a decade.

His new album earns a total of 186,000 equivalent album units in its first week, including 93,500 in album sales, 90,500 in streaming equivalent album units (93.95 million on-demand streams of the songs) and 2,000 in track equivalent album units. This marks Mars’ second No. 1 following Unorthodox Jukebox in 2013 and his fifth top 10 entry overall after An Evening With Silk Sonic with Anderson .Paak, 24K Magic, Unorthodox Jukebox and Doo-Wops & Hooligans. In addition, the nearly-13-year gap between No. 1s is the longest for any living male solo artist since Paul McCartney’s 36-year gap in 2018.

Also appearing in this week’s top 10 is Gorillaz at No. 7 with The Mountain. The group earns 53,000 equivalent album units in its first week including 38,000 in album sales, 15,000 in streaming equivalent album units (15.86 million on-demand streams of the songs) and the remaining in track equivalent album units. Meanwhile, BLACKPINK’s mini-album DEADLINE opens at No. 8 with 52,000 equivalent album units, including 41,000 in album sales, 11,000 in streaming equivalent album units (11.46 million on-demand streams of the songs) and the rest in track equivalent album units. This week’s last debut goes to Mitski’s Nothing’s About To Happen to Me at No. 10 with almost 43,000 equivalent album units. 31,000 of the total is credited to album sales, 12,000 in streaming equivalent album units and the rest in track equivalent album units.

Elsewhere on the chart are Bad Bunny at No. 2, Morgan Wallen at No. 3, Don Toliver at No. 4 and Olivia Dean at No. 5. Making up the rest of the top 10 are Megan Moroney at No. 6 and Taylor Swift at No. 9.
