Summary
- CPRV x HAY’s Aplat Table Lamp debuts as a sculptural, lightweight design, crafted entirely from folded paper with a rhombus base and discreet hook.
- It emits a soft, candle‑like glow, with portability and two size options for versatile placement
The Aplat Table Lamp marks HAY and CPRV’s first collaboration, bringing a sculptural yet lightweight approach to everyday lighting.
Conceived by Camille Paillard and Romain Voulet from CPRV, the lamp is crafted entirely from folded paper, echoing the designers’ interest in transforming flat surfaces into volumetric forms. Inspired by the way fabric becomes clothing through assembly, the lamp’s structure emerges from a handful of precise folds, supported by a discreet metal hook and rhombus‑shaped base. The result is a minimal, graphic silhouette that feels both playful and architectural.
Functionally, the Aplat Table Lamp emits a soft, diffused glow reminiscent of candlelight, creating a warm and ambient atmosphere. The folded paper surface acts as a natural diffuser, while the lamp’s lightweight construction makes it easy to move between spaces.
True to its name – derived from the French word for “flat” – the Aplat Lamp is delivered flat‑packed and assembled by the user, encouraging a tactile connection with the design process. Available in two sizes, the smaller version is ideal for tables, shelves and windowsills, while the larger size can also serve as a floor‑standing lamp. Both versions use a replaceable standard LED bulb with an inline rocker switch, ensuring practicality alongside its sculptural presence.
