Capcom has released a new live-action short film titled “Evil Has Always Had A Name” as part of the promotional campaign for its highly anticipated upcoming title, Resident Evil Requiem. The short film serves as a chilling prologue to the game’s events, detailing the terrifying onset of a new zombie outbreak.
First announced last June, Resident Evil Requiem marks the ninth mainline entry in the legendary survival horror franchise and promises a significant tonal shift for the series. The game introduces a new protagonist, Grace Ashcroft, while also featuring fan-favorite Leon S. Kennedy as a second playable character, blending fresh faces with the franchise’s rich history.
The game is officially set to launch on February 27, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. This release is further complemented by the arrival of the Resident Evil Generation Pack for the Switch 2, which bundles the new title with its predecessors, Resident Evil 7: biohazard and Resident Evil Village.
Building on the massive success of these previous entries – Village having launched in 2021 and Biohazard in 2017 – Capcom is leveraging technological advancements and the development team’s deep experience to deliver a more immersive and heart-stopping experience than ever before. With its late-February debut, Requiem aims to usher in a new era of horror for the modern gaming generation.
