Summary

Carpet Company’s S-Tool reimagines the humble screw as a stackable fiberglass stool designed in Baltimore.

Each 12-inch piece weighs nearly 20 pounds and carries its own individually numbered plaque.

Batch 2 introduces Navy, Clementine, Rose, Slime and Jet Black colorways.

Baltimore’s Carpet Company is carrying its design language past skateboarding and apparel with the S-Tool, a fiberglass stool built from scratch that blurs the line between furniture and sculpture. The concept takes its cue from humble hardware: each of its four chunky legs tapers into the fluted point of a screw, while the seat’s surface is stamped with four Phillips-head recesses, turning an everyday fastener into a playful, oversized object.

Carpet Company leans fully into that irreverence, pitching the piece with the tagline “Sit on it. Stand on it. Spit on it.” and suggesting it can serve as anything from a chair, ottoman or footrest to a paperweight, chew toy or even trash, depending on how its owner chooses to use it.

Despite measuring just 12 inches tall, the S-Tool carries real heft at close to 20 pounds, giving its compact frame a grounded, substantial presence. Its high-gloss finish amplifies the toy-like silhouette, and the design does more than look good: the screw-tip legs nest into the recesses of the stool below, allowing multiple units to stack into a seamless, totem-like column.

Flip one over and a metal plaque on the underside lists its colorway and individual number, with the Batch 2 plaques shown in the imagery reading “of 7.” The presentation extends to the packaging, a white cube printed with rows of multicolored screws, the brand’s tongue-in-cheek usage notes and a grinning blue hippo graphic on a red panel, along with a leather-bound book that showcases each shade as an illustrated screw.

The S-Tool’s first run arrived in Red, Yellow, Kelly, Blue and Chocolate and sold out almost immediately. For Batch 2, Carpet Company introduced five new colorways: Navy, Clementine, Rose, Slime and Jet Black. Like the debut collection, quantities are extremely limited, reinforcing the S-Tool’s status as both a usable piece of furniture and a collectible design object.
