Japanese label daisuke tanabe’s Season 03 collection, titled “x”, explores the complex duality of modern information culture. Drawing inspiration from James Blake’s track Like the End and the film The Zone of Interest, Tanabe uses the symbol “x” to represent the ambiguity and uncertainty of truth in an era of digital overload and social media indifference. The collection is visually anchored in a palette of grays and muted blues, evoking a sense of restrained calmness and societal numbness, while utilizing avant-garde material experiments to reflect the blurred contours of reality.
A standout is the Neo reversible mountain parka, crafted from silver-dyed goat leather layered with black pigment alongside ultra-lightweight Ventile cotton. Other significant items include the Zion jacket and Kafka trousers, made from exceptionally fine Australian baby calf leather that offers a unique, supple drape. Additionally, the collection introduces x-ray jacquard denim, which reinterprets vintage 1950s denim wear-patterns into modern woven data, deliberately embracing misalignments to mirror the theme of chaos.
The “x” collection officially debuts with a major pop-up event at ISETAN Shinjuku today and until January 20, 2026. This marks the brand’s first appearance in a major department store, offering both men’s and unisex silhouettes. The range is also available online through daisuke tanabe’s official website, with prices ranging from $304 – $2,468 USD.
