Jaeger-LeCoultre Unveils New Master Grande Tradition Calibre 985 Wristwatches

In its continued pursuit of mechanical precision and aesthetic refinement, Jaeger-LeCoultre has introduced three new variations of the Master Grande Tradition Calibre 985 as well as a new interpretation of the Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel.

The Master Grande Tradition Calibre 985 is reinterpreted in a pink gold case with a brown dial and in two platinum cases — one framed by a polished bezel, the other features a bezel set with 72 baguette-cut diamonds. The Master Grande Tradition case, reserved for Jaeger-LeCoultre’s most intricate movements, comprises over 80 components and features screwed-in lugs alongside alternating polished, brushed and micro-blasted surfaces.

Subtle dial treatments heighten the Calibre 985’s aesthetic and functional appeal. A hand-bevelled bridge spans the dial, while the tourbillon aperture sits recessed for visual depth. Micro-blasted minute tracks, opaline subdials that shift tone in different lights and laser-engraved, relief-style calendar numerals add textural intrigue. Beneath the tourbillon, an arc-shaped 20-second scale and three blued hands mounted to the cage underscore the maison’s timekeeping precision, as the tourbillon completes one full rotation every 60 seconds.

On the caseback of this 42mm-sized time-teller, a sapphire crystal reveals Haute Horlogerie finishing with blued screws, sun-rayed Côtes de Genève, snailing and hand-bevelling, topped with a 22k rose-gold rotor engraved with the maison’s founder Antoine LeCoultre’s 1851 Great Exhibition gold-medal motif.

Elsewhere, the Master Ultra Thin Tourbillon Enamel is a limited edition of 50 pieces. Presented in an 18k pink gold case with a striking new anthracite grey Grand Feu enamel dial, the timepiece measures 40mm in case diameter. Its anthracite-grey Grand Feu enamel dial is topped with a hand-guilloché sunray pattern and a circular-guilloché date subdial. Five layers of enamel, each fired at 800 degrees Celsius, yield remarkable depth and intensity, while the latest Calibre 978 tourbillon movement drives a sub-gram titanium cage and two-level hairspring, all finished by hand to exemplify La Grande Maison’s union of technical virtuosity and timeless beauty.
