Summary

  • BEAMS Plus and Studio Nicholson have collaborated on a 19-piece capsule collection
  • The collection is inspired by ’60s and ’70s cinema and features “Made in Japan” items
  • Releasing in the UK on September 18 and in Japan on September 19

BEAMS Plus and Studio Nicholson have teamed up for their first capsule collection. The 19-piece “Made in Japan” collection is born from a shared love of ’60s – ’70s film icons such as Columbo, George Peppard and Annie Hall. Centered on the belief that “authentic menswear that can be worn forever and never gets old,” the collaboration melds Studio Nicholson’s minimalist, modular ethos with BEAMS Plus’s heritage-driven attention to Japanese craftsmanship and quality textiles.

Timeless silhouettes receive thoughtful updates: the PETER trench coat is cut from water-repellent gabardine twill, fully hand-glued by artisans and lined in soft cotton poplin check; the PAUL sports blazer’s charcoal marl and navy iterations employ super-high-density tropical wool, pairing relaxed tailoring with gold Americana-inspired buttons; and the ALVY double-pleat trousers nod to Alvy Singer’s easy elegance in supple toffee corduroy, breathable tropical wool or crisp cotton twill in tan, cream, charcoal marl and navy.

Casual essentials gain modern proportions: the LISA shirt reinterprets the Oxford with an oversized, relaxed cut in optic white, chalky pink or brown/white stripe; the HOLLY denim pant, crafted on Okayama’s shuttle looms from blended raw cotton lands in faded wash or indigo; and the GOLIGHTLY loopback jersey sweatshirt champions dropped shoulders and subtle gusset detailing in grey marl or navy.

The collection launches in the U.K. via Studio Nicholson and its London flagship on September 18. This is followed by a Japanese debut on September 19 through BEAMS PLUS as well as Studio Nicholson’s Tokyo locations. Priced from ¥19,800 – ¥143,000 JPY (approx. $135 – $973 USD), each piece is offered in men’s sizes XS -XL, inviting a new generation of wearers to build a timeless, highly wearable wardrobe.
