Update: Following months of rumored sneak peeks, Nike has officially unveiled the Yu-Gi-Oh! x .SWOOSH x Air Max 95 QS, celebrating the iconic manga’s 30th anniversary. The design draws directly from Joey Wheeler’s on-screen sneakers in the classic series, meticulously replicating the creator’s original vision while adding subtle, contemporary updates. The global “Joey” colorway features layered shades of blue, scratch-mark detailing, and lace loops inspired by the anime’s art style.
In addition to that, a Japan-exclusive “Jonouchi” edition is also announced. Dressed in a grayscale palette, this iteration reimagines the silhouette in a look that reflects the franchise’s manga roots. Both pairs arrive in special packaging containing custom, playable Nike x Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game cards — marking the first time Konami has co-created official TCG cards with a brand.
Update (August 6): Nike’s celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Air Max 95 features countless colorways, with one of its highlights involving a collaboration with Yu-Gi-Oh!. We reported on the rumored team-up previously in March and now have more information, as well as a first look at one of the colorways.
Teased at San Diego Comic-Con at the end of last month, the project was confirmed to be an upcoming .SWOOSH release. Pictures of two Yu-Gi-Oh! cards with Air Max 95s on them hinted at what we were likely to see from the rumored pairs. A first look at the “Psychic Blue” version of the collaboration has just been revealed, confirming that the cards do represent the sneakers and look to come with each respective pair.
This initial preview of the collaboration, which is offered via the Instagram post embedded below, sees the pair’s layered blue look accented by “Volt” detailing at the Air units and the tongue’s “Air Muscle” branding. A “1995 Nike Yu-Gi-Oh!” callout is present in black at the midsole’s rear window as well. Rounding out the pair is the Yu-Gi-Oh! logo and Red-Eyes Black Dragon visible at the sockliner. As noted above, each pair comes with its respective card and is packaged in a special thematic box, with this one depicting Joey Wheeler standing next to Red-Eyes Black Dragon, one of his signature cards.
Neither the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise nor Nike’s .SWOOSH platform have shared launch details regarding this take on the Air Max 95. According to the image source, a September 4 launch date is set for this version of the shoe. Stay tuned for updates as we expect it to drop soon via Nike at a price of $200 USD.

Original Story (March 21): Yu-Gi-Oh! and Nike have a new collaboration in the works: an all-new sneaker that references the Japanese manga’s fictional Air Muscle, which regularly appears in the series and is almost a spitting image of the real-life Air Max 95 “Neon.” The animated sneaker didn’t boast a Swoosh (most likely for legal reasons), but this forthcoming collab should satiate those looking for a physical version of the Yu-Gi-Oh! shoe.
Aptly dubbed the Yu-Gi-Oh! x Nike Air Max “Muscle” 95, the sneaker is expected to arrive in two colorways — “White” and “Psychic Blue” — upon its release this fall. It’s currently unknown if there will be any structural changes to the shoe’s build to further match the Yu-Gi-Oh! version.
Along with the sneaker, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Nike will release a collaborative apparel collection, which will include a Nike Destroyer Jacket in “Blue Void/Off White” (priced at $200 USD) and two Nike Solo Swoosh T-shirts in “Black” and “White.”
The Yu-Gi-Oh! x Nike Air Max 95 QS will be released this fall via Nike’s webstore at the price of $200 USD. There are currently no images of the sneaker. Stay tuned for updates.
