Kith and adidas have unveiled a new collaboration, veering away from their athleisure realms for a “Black Tie” capsule of Superstars finely crafted in Germany. Though pricing and release dates haven’t been confirmed, details are expected to come this weekend, when Kith returns to the runway for the first time in 6 years.
The model reinterprets a previous concept led by Fieg for adidas and David Z. “In 2008, I released my first-ever collaboration with adidas called the “Black Tie.” I worked on the Superstar, a classic silhouette I’ve always felt could be dressed up or down,” the designer shared on Instagram.
Intending to create a sneaker that could be worn with a formal suit, Fieg designed a luxury triple black leather variant of the classic adidas silhouette. The new capsule includes five colorways centered on black leather uppers.
The slight variations between each design offer stylistic flexibility, depending on the desired look. One might opt for the classic monochromatic leather for a traditional slant, while others might reach for the glossy crocodile-embossed variant for a more trend-forward style.
Elsewhere, one variant features small touches of gold-embossed branding, another white, and others none at all — for a more discreet vibe. More familiar is the black variant with white overlays, evoking the model’s more athletic roots.
The fusion sneaker capsule teases Kith’s greater Fall 2025 runway presentation, set to take place on August 17. With the highly formal introduction signals that the brand’s return to the runway, titled “Institution,” could be an elevation from previous collections. The photos shared by Fieg on Instagram show the designer wearing all-black formal wear, including a double-breasted blazer, trousers, a shirt, and a tie.
“When it came to debuting our Fall/Winter 2025 collections, there was no better way than to let people experience it in person. This show will feel different from our past ones, and I cannot wait to share what the team and I have been working overtime on with you,” Fied said.
