Summary

  • Garagisti & Co. unveils GP1, a 6.6L V12, 6-speed manual analogue hypercar
  • Limited to 25 examples, priced at £2.45M EUR ($2.84M USD)
  • Designed to be a “love letter to the golden era of driver engagement”

Garagisti & Co., a new British marque, has revealed its first creation: the GP1, a fully analogue hypercar designed as a counterpoint to today’s hybridized, digitally optimized automotive landscape. With a naturally aspirated 6.6L V12 and a six-speed manual gearbox, it’s a machine built for purity, tactility and joy — a love letter to the golden era of supercars.

At its core, the GP1 carries a bespoke V12 developed by Italtecnica, delivering 800 hp at 9,000 rpm and more than 516 lb-ft of torque. The engine’s soundtrack is as important as its output, evoking motorsport engines of the past. That power is sent through a longitudinally mounted six-speed manual transmission by Xtrac, underscoring Garagisti’s commitment to driver engagement above all.

Design was led by Angel Guerra, formerly of Bugatti and Rimac, whose wedge-inspired sculpture balances beauty and performance. In a conversation with Hypebeast, Co-founder Mario Escudero explained: “We wanted to craft a timeless design that returns us to the era when fast cars were truly beautiful, when they required no excuses nor lengthy explanations. This wasn’t about nostalgia — we wanted to do something unique, inspired by the 1980s, 1990s and early 2000s, but bringing that ethos to the present and future with the latest technology.”

The GP1 was shaped by an unusual coalition of partners — from DEXET Technologies’ carbon monocoque and aero expertise to componentry from Brembo and Öhlins. Unlike the egos that often clashed in past supercar projects, Escudero said the collaboration was seamless: “We quickly realised we were all on the same frequency. We were able to constructively challenge each other and elevate what we were doing because we had a shared vision even before we met. We never compromised on that vision.”

But what truly sets the GP1 apart is its philosophy. In an automotive world shifting toward electrification, autonomy and algorithms, Escudero sees analogue hypercars not as an act of defiance but as essential companions to the digital future. “GP1 is a love letter to the spirit of the golden era of driver engagement, an era when beautiful cars were fast and fast cars were beautiful,” he told us. “We definitely see analogue hypercars coexisting alongside the digital future, in the same way fine mechanical watches coexist with quartz. Thinking that we need to choose between one or the other is a false construct. We will always need efficient technology that speaks to our brain, but we will also need things that put a smile on our face — that talk to our hearts.”

Limited to 25 cars, each priced at £2,450,000 EUR ($2,840,909 USD), the GP1 will be hand-finished to its commissioner’s specification in the UK. Early customers will be part of the company’s Open Doors programme, granting unprecedented access to the design and engineering process. For Garagisti & Co., the GP1 isn’t just a hypercar — it’s a manifesto. A bold reminder that, even in the digital age, the analogue soul still matters.
