This year’s NBA All-Star Weekend may not be on the mind of many five months after occurring, however, the Nike GT Future sure is. Revealed during the festivities, the newest addition to the Greater Than (GT) series has since been teased throughout the year, with Wale fronting its rollout. While far from a secret, we now have an official announcement from Nike Basketball outlining what to expect from the stylish performance shoe after it appeared in the division’s special 20+ shoe SNKRS Showcase presentation yesterday.
The Nike GT Future is both eye-catching with its ultramodern, sculpted upper and ready to perform at the highest level. Backing the sleek sneaker is a combination of a full Zoom Strobel and Cushlon 3.0 midsole with a forefoot Air Zoom unit. This proprietary Nike Basketball technology ensures that players are explosive in dashing around defenders and taking flight. Its upper sees an interior bootie secured by a padded heel lock system for precise containment. We’ve seen many colorways appear thus far, however, this trio of the “Lightning,” “Metallic,” and “Fire” colorways likely contains the three to arrive to the public first.
At the time of writing, we remain without a firm release date for the Nike GT Future. Stay tuned for updates, including a complete look at all three of these colorways, as the shoe is confirmed to be making its debut this holiday season, dropping via Nike SNKRS and select retailers worldwide. As for its retail price, it was initially confirmed to cost $190 USD, however, this may have increased with Nike’s price raises from last month.
