Update: We took a first look at a new Air Jordan 5 “Wings” made in celebration of the Jordan Brand Wings Scholars Program’s 10th anniversary back in May. Now, the Swoosh has officially unveiled the sneaker, highlighting its many unique details. As noted previously below, the “Metallic Silver” composition is accented by various 10th anniversary nods, as well as “In This Family No One Flies Alone” text that arrives at both the toe and packaging. Additional notes include a hand print at the outsole and “WINGS” nods at the interior side of the tongue and below the heel’s Jumpman logo. Release remains anticipated for this fall via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a price of $215 USD. Stay tuned for a precise launch date.
Original Story: Jordan Brand introduced the Jordan Brand Wings Scholars Program in 2015, supporting high school students with resources to pursue education. Ten years and thousands of scholarships later, not to mention over a hundred thousand volunteer hours from Jordan Brand employees, the Jumpman team is celebrating a decade of the initiative with a special Air Jordan 5 “Wings” colorway. The shoe, which is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year, previously participated in the series with an art-covered version of the model.
A glistening “Metallic Silver” serves as the base of the sneaker this time around, hosting thematic detailing like a “10” nod at the lateral heel. It also comes with text that reads “In This Family” on the right shoe’s toe and “No One Flies Alone” on the left. The heel’s Jumpman branding features a “WINGS” callout below it while a silver Wings hangtag attached to a tassel completes the celebration.
At the time of writing, Jordan Brand has not yet indicated when this Air Jordan 5 “Wings” colorway will be dropping.
