Pharrell Williams‘ auction platform JOOPITER expands with its own marketplace in an attempt to adjust to the art market downturn with a new instant purchase feature of luxurious and pre-owned collectibles.
In a new report from WWD, the publication confirms that Joopiter Marketplace is launching with items from some of Pharrell’s closest A-list circle including collectors like himself, artist Tom Sachs, jeweler Lorraine Schwartz, entrepreneur and gallerist Easy Otabor and music executive Steven Victor. John Auerbach, chief executive officer of Joopiter told WWD in a statement, “Over the past three-and-a-half years, Joopiter has built an incredibly loyal following of collectors through our auctions who are also hungry for a proposition that’s more instant. We’ve built Joopiter Marketplace to meet this demand, expand our community, and introduce sought-after items that only Joopiter can bring to market.”
The inaugural launch of Joopiter Marketplace will feature key highlights such as a black version of Williams’ signature Vivienne Westwood Buffalo hat selling for $630 USD, a pair of customized black Timberlands from his personal collection selling for $4,200 USD as well as a sample white Billionaire Boys Club polo shirt identical to the one Pharrell wore in the music video with the stains for his 2003 hit single “Frontin’” for $735 USD. In addition to his own personal pieces, Schwartz is selling her Hermès Ostrich Tri-Color Birkin 35 with Palladium Hardware for $36,900 USD and even jewelery from her Elizabeth Taylor collection. Other pieces include a RSVP Gallery x Off-White x Nike T-shirt for $285 USD and pieces from Virgil Abloh.
Pharrell said of Joopiter Marketplace, “Joopiter was founded to not only introduce a new voice into the auction landscape, but to recalibrate what it means to be a collector.
