The title for the upcoming Mario film may have just been leaked by Universal Pictures.
The Verge reports that the sequel is entitled Super Mario World — at least according to a press release from NBCUniversal. The press release, which included the list of upcoming releases from the studio, has now been deleted and altered. While the original included Super Mario World, Shrek and Minions, the updated version lacks mention of the three titles.
Universal’s sequel is set for an April 3, 2026 release but has not yet received an official title. The Verge adds, however, that the Super Mario World title makes sense; the post-credit scene of the first film teased the appearance of Yoshi, who made his video game debut in 1990’s Super Mario World.
