Clocking in at 13 songs, While The Iron Is Hot – riddled with samples, skits and conversation snippets – finds Kast at his most locked-in yet, all the while making it look easier than ever. Bolstered with bouncy jazz beats and immersive instrumentals, the expansive album is half a solo effort and half a masterful presentation of intentional creative collaboration.
Kast taps Samara Cyn on lead single “SMALL TALK” and Malaya on “Stumblin.” His longtime collaborator MAVI hops on for “MAVKAST!” – with Kast proclaiming “Me and MAVI in the same gear!” – with Vince Staples contributing to “Strange Ways” and Saba and Frsh Waters on second-to-last cut “Dog Days.”
