Archer and United Airlines have announced plans to launch an air taxi network across New York City, aiming to cut down travel time between Manhattan and nearby airports to just 5–15 minutes. The network will rely on Archer’s piloted electric aircraft, Midnight, offering a fast and sustainable alternative to congested roads.

The Midnight aircraft is designed to carry four passengers with low noise and zero emissions. It features 12 redundant electric motors and propellers, targeting safety levels on par with commercial airlines. Archer received its FAA Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate in 2024 and is working toward full Type Certification to begin operations.

Vertiports will be established at existing aviation sites, including airports and helipads across the region. Partners like Atlantic Aviation, Signature Aviation, Skyports, Modern Aviation and Air Pegasus are collaborating with Archer to electrify the infrastructure. The initiative builds on similar plans previously announced for San Francisco and Los Angeles.

According to Archer CEO Adam Goldstein, “New York could be one of the first markets for air taxis in the U.S.,” citing the city’s demand, regulatory support and existing infrastructure. The service would integrate with airline travel, offering a door-to-door experience for passengers.
