New York City Shows Up for RIMOWA's New Flagship Opening
The store’s opening party united some of the city’s favorite tastemakers and trendsetters, with Spike Lee and Evan Mock curating special case displays, and archival collections from Supreme and Rick Owens showcased on-site.

RIMOWA made it happen … in the heart of Soho on a weeknight, nonetheless.
For the grand opening of its new flagship outpost on Mercer Street, RIMOWA wrangled a cluster of the city’s famed faces to celebrate the brand’s 127-year heritage in the context of its new brick-and-mortar location. Local legends from across the cultural zeitgeist stepped out for the occasion: Spike Lee, Carmelo Anthony, Walton Goggins, Chloe Sevigny, Maggie Rogers, and Evan Mock included.
Live music came from DJ and club owner Paul Sevigny, with photography by Saturday Night Live‘s portrait photographer Mary Ellen Matthews, and custom-gifted stickers by Lee himself. A myriad of striking archival releases and special collaborations filled the two-story space, with notable offerings including its past luggage collections with Supreme and Rick Owens, as well as a late 19th-century steamer trunk and a soon-to-be-released Cocktail Case, properly staged in a martini speakeasy section of the store.
Lee and Mock even had their own case displays, alongside others from Patti Smith and Martha Stewart.
