Iittala and Café Kitsuné have partnered on a limited‑edition Teema mug collection that marries Finnish modernism with refined café culture, positioning the ritual of coffee as a moment of daily design. Rooted in Kaj Franck’s Teema lineage – first conceived in 1952 and refined in 1981 – the 0.3-liter glazed ceramic mugs translate Franck’s principles of equality, multifunctionality and simplified form into a contemporary series that serves as both functional tableware and a canvas for Café Kitsuné’s aesthetic.
The collection is offered in four subtle tones – Matcha, Sakura, Cappuccino and Sesame – each referencing signature beverages and is designed to harmonize with classic Teema pieces. The stackable, durable mugs are intended for everyday use at home, in studios or cafés, and to pair seamlessly with existing Iittala tableware so users can expand their sets with visual coherence and individual expression. Janni Vepsäläinen, Iittala’s Creative Director, frames the mug as “a reflection of the way we live,” noting the collaboration’s aim to unite Finnish clarity with refined café ritual.
Café Kitsuné complements the product launch with a one‑month, limited‑edition menu in Paris and Tokyo that mirrors the four mug tones: a silky Matcha Latte, a roasted Black Sesame Latte, a foamed Cappuccino and a fragrant Sakura, each matched with an elegant pastry. The menu also includes the brand’s iconic fox shortbread decorated with patterns drawn from the collection’s cups, creating a coordinated, multi‑sensory experience that links drink, dessert and object.
The Café Kitsuné x Iittala Teema mugs are available via Iittala stores, Café Kitsuné cafés and online at €30 EUR (approx. $35 USD).
