Honor and Porsche Design have unveiled the latest product to be born of their creative partnership, announcing the PORSCHE DESIGN HONOR Magic7 RSR smartphone – or, simply, the Magic7 RSR – whilst revealing that it’s set to drop at some point “in early 2025.”

The Magic7 RSR is an “ultra-premium” remix of Honor’s flagship Magic7 Pro smartphone (also newly announced) and marks the third collaboration between the brands, amongst which was last year’s Magic V2 RSR. Unsurprisingly, in 2025, AI is at the heart of the new device, with Honor going so far as to claim that its new phone “represents a huge leap forward in AI-enabled mobile technology.”

Porsche’s RSR – an acronym for the German RennSport Rennwagen”, which literally translates to “racing sport racing car” – philosophy is painted throughout every detail in the new Magic7 RSR. It incorporates many of the German luxury car maker’s design aesthetic, from the hexagonal camera module said to be “inspired by high-performance components” to the phone’s aerodynamic qualities that were inspired by Porsche’s Taycan Turbo S. Even the placement of the three rear cameras and “Matrix Camera” graphic, arranged side by side, are said to resemble a sports car’s symmetrically positioned headlights.

The Magic7 RSR is powered the Snapdragon 8 Gen Elite Mobile Platform, the latest flagship Android processor from chipmaker Qualcomm, an all-in-one with a neural processing unit (NPU) powerful enough to perform on device AI-related functions. Honor is launching the Magic7 RSR with its latest custom version of Android, the MagicOS 9.0 operating system (OS), pre-installed, and AI has been woven throughout the OS’s latest build. Honor calls it an “industry-first, personalised all-scenario AI operating system” and many of its features are centered around the new “Magic Portal” interface, allowing users to access many of the phone’s AI capabilities in a single location. Offering users an additional AI option, the new phone also comes pre-installed with Google’s new Gemini assistant.

Honor has always championed the cameras found in its phones – like last year’s 200 Series developed with Studio Harcourt – and the Magic7 RSR features an impressove triple rear camera setup: this consists of a 50MP “Super Dynamic Falcon” main camera, a 200MP telephoto camera and a 50MP wide camera. Honor is particularly singing the praises of its 200MP telephoto camera that it says features “the industry’s largest f/1.88 telephoto aperture,” which it says “rivals the performance of professional telephoto lenses” when combined with its 1/1.4” sensor. The phone features a host of AI-driven photography tools including the “All-scenario Harcourt Portrait” developed with the aforementioned Parisian studio, “AI Enhanced Portrait”, “AI Super Zoom”, “Stage Mode”, “AI Motion Sensing Capture” and “HD Super Burst”.

The phone has a 6.8-inch display and includes several built-in technologies to support a user’s vision health, like natural tone display and low blue light technology that’s done on a hardware level – not emulated in software. And, when it comes to sound, the Magic7 RSR features Honor’s “HONOR Surround Subwoofer” stereo speaker system, offering spatial audio and what the brand describes as deep bass and an immersive audio experience.”

The PORSCHE DESIGN HONOR Magic7 RSR is being launched in two color options, including Porsche’s iconic “Agate Grey” and a newly developed purple version it’s calling “Provence”. It goes on sale in early 2025 – stay tuned for updated.
