Saul Nash FW25 Is Going Through a Metamorphosis

On the techy London designer’s debut Milan Fashion Week runway, shapeshifting was the name of the game.

Saul Nash, the London designer heralded for his movement-focused, technical design manifestos, made his Milan Fashion Week debut on Sunday evening with a Fall/Winter 2025 runway that stylized the process of metamorphosis.

“This collection looks at metamorphosis not only in the sense of transformation but also in the sense that I, myself, am metamorphosizing,” Nash explained backstage. “I’m looking at movement from a much more holistic perspective.”

In this transitional period, Nash’s fashion thesis was packed with shape-shifting qualities. A multi-toned Bemberg™ oversized cupro shirt, for instance, could be tied around the collar to alter its silhouette when unbuttoned, and a recycled nylon twill asymmetric pullover jacket appeared with an identical transformative feature. Leather coats were constructed with ventilation holes in the underarms, allowing their wearers to opt for a sleeveless look on occasion. Mesh hoodies changed into basketball jerseys, and pinstripe wool blazers could turn back into hoodies, courtesy of hidden zippers on the sleeve.

“It’s about having the permission to allow yourself to be free, to shed an old part of yourself,” Nash added.

Notably, the show featured Nash’s new multi-season collaboration with lululemon, which he’s calling SLNSH. Launching on March 11, the utilitarian performance line featured form-flattering mesh running tops, lightweight nylon shorts, long-sleeve shirts with distinct stitching details, sheer-illusion tracksuits with notes of copper and a versatile leather handbag that could be carried by its handles or strapped around the waist as a belt.

“Exploring performance in the space that it exists with a brand like lululemon and using materials that maybe I otherwise wouldn’t have access to — the process has opened doors for me to look at other ways to bring function into my work,” Nash said.

It’s all part of his metamorphosis, and it seems Nash’s butterfly is ready to spread its wings.
