Martine Rose Challenges Conventional Aesthetics With SS25 Campaign

Martine Rose has always been the one to step outside the box. When it comes to redefining aesthetics, the British-Jamaican designer is never one to shy away from using her collections to tell a story. In the Spring/Summer 2025 campaign shot by Sharna Osborne, Martine Rose focuses on visual expression that has been spawned from disturbance, humor and sex.

Throughout the campaign imagery, the characters are seen wearing wigs and latex-colored prosthetics, creating dramatic silhouettes in their own right. Reflecting on the ideals of beauty, the campaign anticipates a collection that explores unconventional notions of character and anonymity on top of varying degrees of one’s sense of self. The body-modifying elements (which are intentionally obvious and fake) raises questions regarding our relationship with the fragile versus the protective.

The campaign shows a more newer, softer and more raw tone to the collection. Taking on a DIY sensibility to the collection, this season sees womens’ camisoles, shirts and skirts are sculpted with brassiere cups moulded from elbow patches and knee-guards native to motorcycling. Sculptural leather skirts are highlighted with backwards zips and leather adds to the kink seen on utility shorts and chaps featuring arched front zips for easy access. In terms of menswear, suits are double-breasted to complement polite pencil skirts that add a touch of glamor and fluidity to the playboy gowns. Tailoring tends to lean towards a triangular-cut silhouette. Archival pieces re-emerge including floor-length coats to jackets tucked in like shirts, as well as outerwear worn as mid-layers and jacquard knits. Accessories include a multicolor crochet knitted bag along with exaggerative belt buckles, necklace pendants, earrings and more.

Look out for the SS25 collection dropping online soon.
