Leica Expands Its Iconic SL Series With the New SL3-S
Now capable of shooting 6K videos and stands as the first SL-System model to incorporate content credentials technology.

Leica‘s SL3-S is the newest addition to its prestigious SL-System lineup. This full-frame system camera redefines professional imaging, combining Leica’s renowned craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology to serve both photographers and videographers.
At the heart of the SL3-S lies a revolutionary BSI CMOS sensor delivering a 24-megapixel full-frame resolution. The sensor’s advanced multi-shot capabilities enable 48 and 96-megapixel outputs, while its impressive 15-stop dynamic range and expansive ISO range of 50 – 200,000 ensure exceptional performance across all lighting scenarios.
The camera’s innovative autofocus system integrates three distinct technologies: phase detection, depth map object detection and contrast detection. This sophisticated combination enables unprecedented focusing precision and supports rapid 30-frames-per-second continuous shooting with full autofocus capabilities.
For video creators, the SL3-S offers professional-grade capabilities including 6K recording and 3:2 open-gate capture. The camera supports internal ProRes 4:2:2 HQ recording at 5.8K/30fps and C4K/60fps without time restrictions, providing unlimited creative potential.
Breaking new ground, the SL3-S introduces Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI) technology to the SL-System family. This feature embeds secure metadata within images, documenting creator information, production details and editing history, ensuring verifiable authenticity and editorial transparency.
Priced at €5,190 EUR (approximately $5,410 USD), the SL3-S is now available through Leica’s physical stores and online shop. For further details, visit their official website.
