Le Labo Reunites With 'AnOther Magazine' for AMBROXYDE 17 Candle
The duo enlisted collage artist Katrien de Blauwer to translate the scent into its tangible form.
Le Labo, the New York-based fragrance house known for its high-quality scents, has partnered with AnOther Magazine to introduce an all-new candle titled AMBROXYDE 17. The duo, which previously teamed up to create the ANOTHER 13 perfume in 2010, enlisted collage artist Katrien de Blauwer to examine the “invisible language of fragrance through her layered tactility” to create the visual identity of their new candle.
“Fragrance speaks a language of its own that no one can ever predict or direct,” said Deborah Royer, Le Labo’s global brand president and creative director. “It contains endless personal stories and intimate experiences waiting to be lived—and sometimes shared. This has always been a common thread in our longstanding friendship with AnOther Magazine, whose introduction to the artist Katrien de Blauwer sparked an open-ended exploration of what it means to give tangible form to fleeting emotion.”
AMBROXYDE 17 was created around its namesake ingredient: the distinct and addictive synthetic molecule ambroxyde that also appears in the ANOTHER 13 perfume. Here, the candle, which was made with fragrance oils, custom wax blends and natural fiber wicks, enlists additional notes like musk and an assortment of woods.
De Blauwer said, “The process of translating scent into visual form was beautifully challenging. I immersed myself in the fragrance, letting the journey take shape with an open mind and space for the unexpected to emerge. The final candle stands for both the essence of the scent and the intangible experience of our creative dialogue.”
