Sony Is Selling Refurbished PS5s for Half the Cost of the PS5 Pro
All “Certified Refurbished” consoles come with a 12-month warranty.
For those who yet haven’t upgraded to the PS5, Sony is offering refurbished consoles at a lower cost. During the recent PlayStation Direct, Sony announced that it would be selling “Certified Refurbished” editions of the PS5 for $350 USD.
The refurbished hardware is going for exactly half the price of the forthcoming $700 USD PS5 Pro, which was announced on Monday.
Refurbished consoles are those that can’t be sold as new. Most fall into the category of returns from buyers – even if the buyer only opened up the box and never actually played on the console. It seems that Sony is seeking to get rid of its PS5 stock ahead of the Pro rolling out shipping in early November.
According to Sony, the used consoles are “extensively cleaned, tested and ready for a brand new home.”
“You will receive a product that works like new with genuine PlayStation replacement parts (as needed) that has been thoroughly cleaned, inspected and tested,” the company said.
All refurbished consoles will come with a 12-month warranty. There’s no official start date for the Certified Refurbished initiative but Sony says it’s “coming soon.”
