Jamie xx Gets the Gang Back Together on "Waited All Night"
Tapping The xx bandmates Oliver Sim and Romy Madley Croft to contribute.
As Jamie xx‘s In Waves’ release date approaches, the producer is keeping his foot on the gas with pre-release singles. Joining the five already-released cuts comes possibly the most electrifying yet; dubbed “Waited All Night,” Jamie xx reconnects with The xx bandmates Oliver Sim and Romy Madley Croft for the first track since 2017.
“Thank you to my two best friends and musical siblings, Oliver and Romy. It’s wonderful to have the gang back together, working in new ways, working out new lives, I wouldn’t be here without them,” Jamie xx said of the track, whose release arrives after the three siblings reunited on-stage at Glastonbury Festival earlier this year. “Waited All Night” joins “Dafodil,” “All You Children,” “Life,” “Treat Each Other Right” and “Baddy On The Floor” as the pre-released cuts from the 12-track LP.
“We’ve loved collaborating on our recent solo projects but it’s been a while since the three of us came together on one track,” Sim and Croft add to Jamie’s statement.
“We’re so pleased that this was the place we met up again. Proud to play a small part in this long-awaited, brilliant album. We’re your biggest fans Jamie.”
Stream “Waited All Night” on Spotify and Apple Music now, and expect In Waves to drop everywhere this Friday, September 20.
