Bottega Veneta SS25 Spotlights Everyday Adventures

“As a kid, there is the adventure of the everyday — there’s a feeling that anything could happen, no matter how fantastical,” said creative director Matthieu Blazy.

Bottega Veneta creative director Matthieu Blazy is a skilled craftsman with a unique eye, one who’s reimagined what the house’s famed woven leather goods can and should be. However, his unique perspective and striking skills are backed up by a plentiful helping of childhood whimsey and a fun-loving nature, both of which were on display across the Bottega Veneta SS25 range presented at Milan Fashion Week. “As a kid, there is the adventure of the everyday – there’s a feeling that anything could happen, no matter how fantastical and we are not so bound by regular expectations and conventions,” said Blazay. “The door is open to the possibility of strange realities and wonder, impossible scenarios that banish disillusion. This is about the power of sincerity over strategy.”

How does “sincerity over strategy” show up on the runway? In the world of Bottega Veneta, it’s a reimagining of “power dressing” through garments with intentionally misproportioned details like giant leather collars and slouched shoulder seams. Plenty of material experimentation is on display across the collection as well, with everything from leather evening dresses to jacquard patterns woven of tropical-weight merino wool and slubbed, disrupted striped shirting.

Furthering the ethos are the inclusion of animal motifs, and, of course, striking accessories. The animal inclusion is supplied by everything from bold prints to fish stoles and labels, but most prominent are frogs and rabbits, which do everything from jumping across jewelry, pump up fluffy mules and offer color palette inspiration, as well as a seeming nod to White Rabbit candies. Meanwhile, the accessories include leather grocery bags that look as if they’re made of plastic, bricolage bags and the house’s famed Andiamo bag, all of which show notes refer to as “joyous meandering.”

Check out the whole collection in the gallery and video above, then head to Hypebeast’s Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2025 hub to catch up on everything else that’s going on in Milan and beyond.
