Chrono24’s Most Hyped Watches In July
Spotlighting timepieces from Audemars Piguet, Tudor, Seiko, OMEGA and Rolex.
In this monthly series with Hypetime, Chrono24 will be providing background on some of the most coveted luxury watches in the pre-owned market based on real-time findings from its global marketplace.
Every month, five models will be spotlighted by Chrono24’s in-house experts. The selection is based on monthly analytics, with each piece meeting all four criteria: 1) The watch must receive a critical mass of supply as well as demand, 2) There must be a significant percentage increase in inquiries and offers compared to the previous month as the reference period, 3) The search queries for the watch model must exceed a critical threshold defined from the data set, 4) The available listings per model must exceed a critical threshold defined from the data set.
Read on for the most hyped watches on Chrono24 in July.
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver 15703ST.OO.A002CA.01
The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver is a coveted timepiece that has been celebrated by collectors. Specifically, the AP Royal Oak family has been long-regarded in the watch community as a key offering from one of the “Big 3” brands: AP, Patek Philippe and of course, Rolex.
Across Chrono24, demand for this model peaked last month against the preceding calendar year. AP’s dive watch offerings are few and this Offshore Diver features noticeably more rounded edges which work well with the larger 42mm case size. The addition of the chronograph makes this model super special — and variations of the Royal Oak are hard to miss in Hollywood and the athletic world. Drake, Serena Williams, John Mayer, Justin Bieber, Steph Curry and Travis Scott are all loyalists and are frequently photographed wearing their go-to AP.
Tudor Black Bay GMT M79830RB-0001
Watch lovers far and wide are aware of the intrinsic value of the storied Tudor brand, the sister company of Rolex. But regardless of this now well-known affiliation, Tudor has managed to retain a brand esteem that flies ever-so-slightly under the radar, with a refreshing absence of pretentiousness that clouds some boastful Rolex collectors.
The Black Bay is a solid, utilitarian watch with a GMT functionality that allows the wearer to easily track multiple time zones (fun fact: the first-ever GMT was created by Rolex for pilots of Pan Am). Last month, demand on Chrono24 reached its highest peak since February of 2023, and tripled over June 2024 and the Black Bay is the particular favorite offering from Tudor by its brand ambassador and mega football star, David Beckham.
Seiko 5 Sports SRPD55K1
The Seiko fan club is a formidable one, and there’s a vast community of collectors whose affinity for the brand runs ultra-deep. The 5 Sports collection is a tried and true sports watch offering that originated back in the 1960s. On Chrono24, its demand in July alone eclipsed any other month since the start of 2023 and showed a dramatic increase. As a utilitarian and entry-level-priced mechanical watch, the Seiko 5 Sports series offers dependable sports functionality with bonuses like a transparent caseback to view the inner movement within which makes it feel elevated.
Omega Seamaster 22545000
Speaking of lasting fandom, OMEGA fans are loyal to their timepieces and to the storied heritage of its watches that have intertwined with so many important historical moments in the world. Seamaster fans famously include Prince William, Daniel Craig, Andrew Garfield and more. A few special editions of this model were created for the America’s Cup and for the Olympics — in fact, OMEGA has been the Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games since 1932. Perhaps inspired by the concurrent Paris Olympics, Chrono24 saw demand for this Omega Seamaster grow in July by more than 50% over any month since the start of 2023.
Rolex Air-King 14010
The Rolex Air-King is a lesser-known model from the world’s most famous luxury watch brand. This out-of-the-ordinary timepiece features an engine-turned bezel and a Caliber 3130 movement within as well as a smaller, unisex-sized 34mm case — with this particular reference being a remake of a vintage model that debuted in the year 2000. Vintage Air-Kings have popped up on the red carpet over the years as well, including on the wrist of Ryan Gosling. Since February 2023, demand for this Rolex model has maintained somewhat steadily on Chrono24, but in July the marketplace saw demand increase by more than 50%.
