AAPENOW Looks to Tokyo’s Colorful Youth Culture to Inform Fall/Winter 2024 Collection

Tokyo’s diverse style codes are limitlessly expressive, driving forth the idea that anything goes if you feel confident and comfortable. As a sub-line of AAPE *A BATHING APE®, AAPENOW has continually prioritized comfort and functionality with every new collection, presenting minimalist styles that can be factored into everyday ensembles. But for the brand’s latest Fall/Winter 2024 collection, each piece was enlivened with the imaginative, animated essence of Tokyo’s street culture.

This season’s lineup revived many classic AAPENOW silhouettes, like down puffer jackets, knits, hoodies, t-shirts, and pants — but each piece was revamped through vibrant tones reflective of Japan’s colorful youth culture. Drawing inspiration from the many color palettes that fill the bustling streets of Tokyo, the collection implements brighter cherry reds, burnt oranges, forest greens, and retro prints with more demure neutrals. These contrasting hues create a juxtaposition within the collection that mirrors the many aesthetics that dominate Japan’s style scene.

Continuing to implement some of the brand’s signature craftsmanship techniques, some of the collection’s apparel incorporates dual-tone camouflage, custom dyeing techniques, and patch embroidery. New designs include a faux two-piece t-shirt, a tweed-patterned down jacket, a sports-inspired sweatsuit treated with a special wash and the brand’s club-shaped logo sweatshirt series. This series of practical sweatshirts was crafted using specialized interlock technology, showcasing AAPENOW’s propensity for pushing the needle when it comes to not only creating reliable staple pieces, but also upgrading them through material innovation.
