The judge presiding over Young Thug’s RICO trial has denied the rapper’s request to be released from jail on bond. The rapper, whose real name is Jeffrey Williams, has been held in prison since May 2022.

The racketeering trial for Williams is already in its 19th month, marking the longest criminal trial in Georgia history. The case also had the longest jury selection process in history at 10 months.

The bond request was rejected by Fulton County Superior Court Judge Paige Reese Whitaker, who replaced Judge Ural Glanville after he was rescued from the case for holding private meetings with procedures without Williams’ defense being present.

Williams’ attorney Brian Steel told Whitaker that his client is living in “squalor” and at the Cobb County jail, per Courthouse News. He also reportedly noted that Williams doesn’t pose a flight risk, as he’d be monitored by law enforcement in the event he receives bond.

“I am not going to reconsider any bond issues that have already been considered and ruled upon by another court absent legitimate changed circumstances,” Whitaker told Steel, per Courthouse News.

Two co-defendants in the case, Deamonte Kendrick and Marquavius Huey, were also denied bond.
