YEN TOWN MARKET Celebrates the 20th Anniversary of 'Samurai Champloo' With Collaborative Collection
The second drop arrives this weekend.
YEN TOWN MARKET is celebrating the iconic anime Samurai Champloo‘s 20th anniversary with a special commemorative capsule.
The collaborative collection features a range of wardrobe staples, including t-shirts, hoodies and long-sleeved shirts. Coming later this week is the second drop, which sees six kinds of t-shirts and short-sleeve shirts. The collection features key characters from the show in as well as co-branding from both Yen Town market and Samurai Champloo. Specific scenes from the film are highlighted as key graphics alongside shoutouts to Nujabes, who composed the music for the anime. In one of the pieces, the anime draws comparison to current hip-hop culture stating, “Samurai Champloo smashes Hip-Hop culture in a way that works quite well. In many regards, today’s Hip-Hop culture is similar to Edo period Japan. Hip-Hop originates from modern cities that have strict economic divisions.” The pieces arrive in classic navy, grey, tan, black, white and royal blue.
The second drop arrives online at 5AM EST, 18 July at YEN TOWN MARKET.
