Headie One Releases New Album ‘The Last One’
The UK drill rapper is reborn as he opens up about shedding his old life through the course of the project.
Headie One has released his new sophomore studio album, The Last One. The hefty album includes 20 tracks that explore a raw and previously unseen side of the rapper: across the course of the project, he opens up about his ascension to fame, where he hopes to head in life while touching on his journey as well — from a stint in prison to his impoverished upbringing. Lyrics from the opening track “I Could Rap” immediately delve into these topics with lines like “Gotta take one last shot at the music before I accept it’s a life of crime” and “A6436CK, they address me as Adjei,” which references his prison ID number.
The Last One is packed with collaborations from around the world, including British artists Stormzy, D-Block Europe, Sampha and Potter Payper, American R&B star Fridayy, and Nigerian artists Bnxn, Odumudoblxck and Tay Iwar. This array of artists, spanning multiple genres, caters to a global audience as it reflects the cultural melting pot that his hometown of London is. The album also featured a track produced by American DJ Skrillex with AJ Tracey and BEAM rapping.
One also an extensive UK and Europe tour planned. The 20-date tour includes cities like Sydney, Dublin, London, Amsterdam, Paris and Berlin, and will end in March 2025. One also teased that he wants to expand his tour to the US in the future.
