Chrono24’s Most Hyped Watches In June
From Breitling, OMEGA, IWC, Cartier to Tudor.
In this monthly series with Hypetime, Chrono24 will be providing background on some of the most coveted luxury watches in the pre-owned market based on real-time findings from its global marketplace.
Every month, five models will be spotlighted by Chrono24’s in-house experts. The selection is based on monthly analytics, with each piece meeting all four criteria: 1) The watch must receive a critical mass of supply as well as demand, 2) There must be a significant percentage increase in inquiries and offers compared to the previous month as the reference period, 3) The search queries for the watch model must exceed a critical threshold defined from the data set, 4) The available listings per model must exceed a critical threshold defined from the data set.
Read on for the most hyped watches on Chrono24 in June.
Breitling Aerospace Avantage E79362
The Breitling Aerospace collection consists of prized pilot’s watches first introduced in 1985. Lately, Chrono24 has been seeing renewed interest via purchase requests for the startlingly lightweight Breitling Aerospace Avantage E79362 more than doubling over any other month since the start of 2023. The Calibre B79 movement – better known as the “EVO” – boasts a bevy of sky-ready functions including thermo-compensation to resist changes in temperature, a chronograph, GMT, perpetual calendar, timer, minute repeater, backlight and an alarm. In other words, it’s ten times more powerful than your typical quartz movement and that’s reflected on the Aerospace Advantage’s analog/ digital combo display. If accuracy is your thing, there are few watches better suited for ultimate precision.
OMEGA Speedy Tuesday Speedmaster 311.32.42.30.01.001
OMEGA’s popularity never wanes on Chrono24, and the pursuit for the limited-edition Speedy Tuesday Speedmaster is no different. Like the nostalgia-laden Moonwatch story that is OMEGA’s forever legacy, this watch too has historical ties to NASA. Its design heralds from the brand’s Speedmaster Alaska Project III which was introduced in 1978 for the Space Shuttle. Silver luminous subdials contrast the black dial with an ultra-chic reverse-panda effect. Demand in June alone hit its peak over all requests made in 2023 and 2024 to date.
The IWC Le Petit Prince Mark Xviii IW327016 is a tool watch with an attitude. Instantly recognizable, IWC’s Mark series is a fandom favorite. The brushed blue dial is the reason for aesthetic admiration alone – and the white date window certainly pops – but these are only complemented by an engraving of “Le Petit Prince” on the caseback. Its affiliation with one of the most nostalgic characters in modern literature adds to the appeal and makes this timepiece extra giftable, which potentially contributes to the spike in requests for this IWC model. Demand last month on Chrono24 peaked higher than at any moment in the previous 12 months.
Cartier Panthere de Cartier W2PN0007
Tip your hat to Cartier as the hype for the luxury brand continues to explode. In this case, the Cartier Panthere de Cartier W2PN0007 is no exception, representing a reprieve of this coveted model that was discontinued in the early ‘00s, but brought back to life in 2017 to much applause. Its smaller size makes for a unisex offering with an iconic square case with visible screws along the bezel. The yellow gold and steel two-tone vibe makes this a quintessential dress watch, clocking in at just 27mm. The Cartier Panthere de Cartier W2PN0007 has many similarities to the perpetually popular Cartier Santos models, and Chrono24 reports that demand has more than doubled over any time since the start of 2023.
Tudor Prince Date 79280
The younger sibling of the ephemeral Rolex Daytona, Tudor’s chronograph offering in the Prince Date 79280 has amassed a loyal following all of its own. The 79280 boasts a polished steel fixed tachymeter bezel that differentiates it from the other Prince Dates in the 79000 series. Demand has been steadily increasing on Chrono24 since the beginning of this year, but high demand was a trend throughout 2023 as well. The quality of Tudor has skyrocketed the brand’s popularity, no longer standing in big brother Rolex’s shadow — the race to snatch up these mighty chronographs is certainly on.
