Audi Unveils New Range of A5 Models
Including a sleek and sporty S5 Avant.
Just days after our RS5 Avant review, Audi has revealed the latest generation of its A5 model lineup, marking a significant evolution in the mid-size segment. The new family includes the A5 Sedan, S5 Sedan, A5 Avant and the standout S5 Avant, all showcasing advanced design and technological innovations.
The S5 Avant is poised to be the flagship of the A5 family. It features a robust 3L V6 TFSI engine with 367 hp, enhanced by the new MHEV plus technology. This mild-hybrid system not only boosts performance but also ensures improved fuel efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions. The S5 Avant’s sporty design is highlighted by a dynamic roofline and a seamlessly integrated roof spoiler, delivering both aesthetic appeal and aerodynamic efficiency.
Audi CEO Gernot Döllner emphasized the blend of sportiness and technological advancement in the new models, saying “The new A5 shines with its sporty design, new interior, and modern electronic architecture. It also marks the launch of our new generation of efficient combustion engines.”
All four variants of the new A5 are built on Audi’s Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), showcasing a sharp, clean design. The A5 and S5 Sedans feature a long wheelbase and a low, sporty body, while the Avant models combine a stretched roofline with a spacious, functional rear.
Inside, the new A5 models boast a redesigned interior focused on user interaction. The digital stage is dominated by the Audi MMI panoramic display, including an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit and a 14.5-inch touch display. Optional features like a 10.9-inch front passenger display and a configurable head-up display are also available.
The new Audi A5 family will primarily be available for order in Germany, with a broader market launch set for November. Entry prices for the new model range are set to begin at €45,200 EUR or roughly $50,000 USD.
